SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAMME
1.     Focuses on whole-person development by having a substantial portion of the programme in liberal arts.
2.     Only 4-year university degree programme in Accounting in Hong Kong.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The programme aims to:
1.     provide training to accounting graduates in doing accounting work and having good foundation for research work.
2.     train accountants to meet the large demand from industry and commerce and in public practice.
3.     
equip students with skills in analyzing and planning which are necessary for business decision-making and for the promotion of the economic development and prosperity of society.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
1.     have passed the HKCEE with at least six E grade subjects, including Chinese and English in one examination; and
2.     
have passed Chinese Language and Cultural and Use of English in the Hong Kong Advanced Supplementary Level ('AS' Level) Examination, plus passing at least one Advanced Level ('A' Level) subject in Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination; or
3.     have graduated from a local accredited Associate Degree programme; or
4.     have attained equivalent education standards.
* All candidates for admission will be interviewed as part of the selection process.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be eligible for the professional exemption from various professional accounting bodies.
*     

Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA)
The programme has been accredited by the HKICPA and graduates will be eligible to be admitted to the Qualification Programme (QP) of the HKICPA and to sit for the Final Professional Examination of the HKICP. Candidates who have passed the examinations and with at least 3 years' relevant supervised working experience will be qualified as Certified Public Accountants or non-practising members of the HKICP.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK (ACCA)
ACCA has granted maximum exemption (9 papers from Parts 1 & 2) of its professional examinations to the programme and graduates will only have to sit examination for 5 papers.
*     
The Association of International Accountants, UK (AIA)
AIA has granted maximum exemption (12 papers) of its professional examinations to the programme and graduates will only have to sit examination for 4 papers.
*     
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (CIMA)
CIMA has granted exemption of 10-11papers to the programme.
*     
Certified Management Accountants of British Columbia, Canada (CMA)
CMA has granted substantial exemption to the programme and graduates will only have to take four courses, passing the National Entrance Examination and going through Strategic Leadership Programme.
*     
Certified General Accountants, Canada (CGA)
CGA has granted substantial exemption to the programme and graduates will only have to study 4 courses that require examinations and 2 course assignments.
*     Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS)
The HKICS has granted exemption from 4 papers in its professional programme to our honours degree graduates in Accounting.
      
POSSIBLE CAREER PATHS FOR GRADUATES
Graduates from this degree programme may:
1.     seek employment in professional accounting firms and in commercial and industrial sectors.
2.     
seek employment in the Hong Kong SAR Government, particularly Audit Commission, Inland Revenue Department and Treasury.
3.     
become Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or non-practising members of the professional accounting bodies, after taking relevant professional examinations and gaining relevant working experience.
4.     pursue postgraduate studies in Accounting, Finance or Management at local or overseas universities.
