Change in the Eligibility for the Honour Roll and the President’s List

In 1st Semester 2007/08, the University has introduced an Honour Roll to recognize the good academic achievement of undergraduate students on a semester by semester basis. A President’s List, which will honour sustained outstanding performance over two semesters in any given academic year, will be added in June 2007.

Initially the GPA threshold for inclusion in the Honour Roll was set at 3.00 and students who had been included on the Honour Roll on this basis were notified through WebSims in early March.

However, after further consideration of improving trends in assessment results, it was agreed that, with immediate effect, the cut-off point for inclusion in the Honour Roll would be changed to GPA 3.3 which is equivalent to B+. We believe that this amendment will reinforce the primary purpose of the scheme, which is to recognize and encourage consistently good academic performance.

To be included on the President’s List, a student must appear on the Honour roll for two consecutive semesters in a given academic year and achieve the required GPA. The GPA threshold for inclusion on the President's List has provisionally been set at 3.5. The situation will be reviewed in June 2008, and any change will be announced.

The requirements are therefore as follows:
Honour Roll:
Semester GPA of 3.3 or above and completion of 12 or more letter graded credits in a semester.

President’s List[1]:
Overall GPA for the academic year of at least 3.5 and listed on the Honour Roll for two consecutive semesters in a given academic year.

The Honour Roll will be revised based on the new requirement and the confirmed list has been released through WebSims.
[1] To be confirmed in June 2008
