Course Aims
The aim of this course is to develop students’ skills in effective business communication. The course will introduce principles of communication and strategies for effective communication, and will improve students’ English skills for oral and written communication.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1.
understand basic principles of business communication;

2.
apply the theories and skills in different business situations;

3.
plan and write business correspondence for specific purposes;

4.
prepare and produce business and reports;

5.
prepare and deliver oral presentations; and

6.
understand and use nonverbal communication skills.


Teaching Approach

In class students will be introduced to the theories and concepts. Simulation and role-play will be used so that students can apply the theories and practise the skills learned for effective communication. Group work and individual activities will be assigned to help students develop both oral and written skills.
