I want to know if HKSYU is teaching in [b]English[/b] or [b]Chinese[/b]..or depend on what subject they teach.

I mean the main language in SYU..
coz i want to know more about SYU...
Actually I got confuse with the teaching system in SYU...
Do the students have to study Cantonese, English and Mandarin...how about other subject (business?? accounting??)

大一國文係上半年係讀我想是清朝至文初的文草
下半年讀古文,古文的是禮記,詩經..等等

Ya...Im doing A-level at the moment..but Im not study in HK..and my chinese is awful(Although Im permanent citizen and got a pass in A-level chinese)........but becoz I want to apply SYU...so I want to know more..

上學期學現代散文, 下學期學文言文, 讀既方法其實同舊制會考中文無咩分別. 除非你功課唔交, 或做得好差, 你肯讀肯背應該唔會有好大問題.

got a pass in A-level chinese? u means UK A-level  exam ?  you'redoingA-Level at the moment ,but why u got  got a pass in A-level chinese???

but anyway ,i have no idea with the education system in UK ,so it was hard to compare whether CHINESE is hard for u or not .

For wingso ,i guess you are a HK students ,right ?
IF u got a pass in CE chinese ,i don't think you will have any  difficulties when studing 大一國文.
as angellui said , its hard to fail ..

U a right....I did chinese A-level exam last year......and now Im doing 2more A-level....becoz we dont hv any lesson for chinese in there......so i  just did it last year.......fortunately I passed.....but it may ever worse than form3 level....therefore teaching in english is more helpful for me in general.^^||
actually I am interest in Accounting and Finance....but dont no what a the qualifications for it yet..

(A) Have passed the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination with at least six subjects, including Chinese and English in one examination; and

(B) Have passed both Use of English and Chinese Language and Culture, and one additional Advanced Level subject in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination, or

(C) Have graduated from a local accredited Associate Degree programme, or

(D) Have attained equivalent education standards from China or overseas countries.

then you have to consider whether u are suitable to apply shue yan university since the chinese is a subject that  compulsory  in comm. faculty !

james, i am a student come from the SYU business faculty and maybe lemme talk a little bit more about that

well, you shouldnt be nervous to the language that the prof use, unless you couldnt listen to cantonese and mandarin. you said that your chinese is awful, right? it depends on which kinda "chinese" that you are talking about. if you mean "written chinese", hey, come on, SYU is still suitable to you.. however, if you could not even listen to cantonese or mandarin, you may find that SYU does not suit you.

the teaching language of the business subjects in year one and two would be cantonese. foreign professors would teach you in year three and also in the final year. However, ALL of the lecturers would prepare ENGLISH NOTES and the only language that are allowed to be used in the exams would be ENGLISH. if you can understand what the lecyurer said in the lectures, you can get a well understanding to the content of the subs and you can study the notes without making any translations. and you can and you must answer the papers in ENGLISH. that's why i bet you can study well in SYU if you can listen to Cantonese  well despite the ability of written-chinese.

i bet the First Year Chinese (大一國文) would not be any obstacle to you. actually it's hard to fail. the content of this course is difficult enough to drive me crazy. but actually you can easily get passed if you pay more than 10 hours before the exam studying this subject. i hate this sub, and i have got a fair pass on it. but the most important thing is that, i have passed it.

thanks very much for the information and ur opinion......but our A-level start at the begin of May and not to be finish till the end of June....other things is...I wont be back HongKong untill 15th July and dont know if I can get A-level考試証書，中學畢業証書及成績單before 31th July....>.<

Could u guys mind to tell me wts the different between 榮譽學位 & 海外大學合辦學位 ....and本地學位課程 & 國際學位課程.....????
